A painting workshop for the human spirit — empowering refugees to express and heal.

Where every emotion has a color, every color has a place, and everyone belongs.

Art as a universal language

Arriving somewhere new is one of the most courageous things a person can do. Colors & Courage honors that journey — offering a place where you don’t need words to be understood.

Through abstract painting, we create a space for emotions to surface, breathe, and transform. There are no right answers here. No painting experience needed. Only you, a canvas, and whatever you're carrying.

Your guide Melissa Mahoney is a painter and workshop facilitator whose work explores the relationship between emotion, color, and form. She believes that everyone has something worth expressing — and that art gives it a voice.

Through Colors & Courage, Melissa creates a space that is equally safe and expansive — where technique serves expression, and expression serves healing.

“There are no right or wrong answers here. Only what is true for you, on this canvas, on this day." — Melissa Mahoney

Art has the power to reach where words cannot. My focus is to share that power — giving refugees a way to express themselves and feel truly included.
