Stanford University Silk Scarf

Palo Alto artist, Melissa Mahoney, creates custom artwork for Stanford University silk scarf.

Melissa Mahoney has lived in Palo Alto off and on for over 20 years. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, she moved to the Bay Area in the early ‘90s.

Her love for the Pacific Ocean, the Sierra Mountains and the culture of the Bay Area attracted her initially to the area. And soon after her move west, she discovered Palo Alto.

“I’m inspired how energizing it is living near Stanford University, and I’m drawn to the residents of Palo Alto and their quest for knowledge,” says Melissa.

Melissa has participated in the Palo Alto Festival of the Arts show for the past three years. “It’s fun to show locally and then also to see some of my collectors when they come by to visit. Creating artwork is my passion, and sharing it is just as important to me,” says Melissa. Her recent series is titled Vortices.

This richly hued scarf brings together circular energy with the elemental beauty of Stanford University’s Cardinal Red color.
