Continuum Creation

I created this painting in one day. I wanted to create something that was bold and graphic that felt illustrative, like graphic novels. I painted contrasting gradations of warm colors over cool colors. Then I added bold brushstrokes of black and white in between the colors.

“I liked the concept of creating a painting that would be ephemeral. When I painted this I knew that ultimately it would only live in a digital state.

However, I’ve never been actively involved in the destruction of a piece of artwork that I created. I had to dig a little deeper inside to actually cut and burn my painting.”

Continuum Destruction

I paused before I started filming the destruction of this painting. Then I made the first cut, top and center. I continued to cut and burn the canvas. I even destroyed the stretcher bars by sawing and burning them. Nothing remains of the painting, except the high resolution digital capture and the videos of its creation and destruction.

This NFT was inspired by a professor / hacker friend who wanted to encourage me to enter the NFT space.

Sending appreciation to Zanardi, who helped me come up with the creation / destruction concept and navigate the NFT process.
